We are a progressive, full service equine veterinary practice serving Knoxville, Dandridge, White Pine, Jefferson City, Sevierville, Morristown, Rutledge, Newport, and surrounding counties (more detailed area description at bottom of page). Bridlewood Equine was founded by the 2 present partners and veterinarians, Dr. Jon Koella and Dr. Wesley Johnson in 1995 here in Dandridge Tennessee.
We offer preventative and routine healthcare, lameness, orthopedics, podiatry (including therapeutic shoeing), pre-purchase exams, reproduction including AI, dentistry, and certain elective as well as emergency surgeries. Routine appointments are typically made Monday through Friday between 9 am and 5 pm, at our office or on the farm, with exceptions made to client work schedules.
Our website, although not exhaustive, offers a separate page for links to sources of reputable equine information and news articles covering a variety of topics on the Helpful Resources page. We realize the amount of information available on the internet is overwhelming. The vast and voluminous information unfortunately includes poor or incorrect medical information mixed within the good or helpful. We desire to help direct you to dependable sources so that you as the horse owner will not be misguided or alarmed unnecessarily.
We update News and Events monthly and invite you to Sign in with us if you desire to receive an invitation to client education events, clinics, fun days and current horse related medical and podiatry news in the area. Please do not expect an invitation if you have not signed in. Maintaining a current client list that is useful for such events is very difficult and we hope to include you ! Meet the DoctorsOver the years Dr. Koella and Dr. Johnson have developed a synergy between themselves that gives Bridlewood its versatile dependability, and since they’ve remained in the area since its founding in 1995 (and prior), the relationships they’ve built with their clients since are a large part of why they still love what they do. Bridlewood’s client base appreciates and takes great comfort in knowing that one of the two partners is made available for any and all urgent health care or emergency needs 24 hours a day and 365 days of the year, a commitment Dr. Koella and Dr. Johnson made to themselves and to the community those twenty years ago. This commitment is a reflection of their genuine care, compassion and respect for the wonderful and noble animal - the horse.
